Helpful Hints to Prevent Bursting Pipes!
1/3/2022 (Permalink)
As this new year continues and temperatures continue to fall, the chances of your pipes bursting rises exponentially, no matter where you are in the area. Water damage is never a fun task to tackle, especially during cold, winter months. That's why we at SERVPRO® of Pike, Floyd, and Knott Counties are here to give you some helpful hints to avoid bursting pipes in your home or office. If the temperature dips below freezing, there are precautions that can be taken, both indoors and outdoors, which include:
Indoors
- Let a small stream of water run from faucets
- Open cupboard doors in the kitchen and bathrooms
- Shut off and drain water system if you are leaving for several day
Outdoors
- Wrap outside faucets
- Caulk around pipes where they enter the house
- Disconnect garden hoses
- Drain in-ground sprinkler systems (check manufacturer's instructions for the best way to do this)
We hope you don't need us this winter, but fear not if you do! The professionals at SERVPRO® are always here to make your situation "Like it never even happened." For more information, call us today at (606) 886-3826
